Support for students with Disability

If you have a chronic health condition or disability the Disability Advisers can help you to participate fully in University life. It is usually necessary to obtain an appointment to see our Disability Advisers.  The University of Tasmania Disability Service is located within Student Services.

The Disability Adviser can:

  • Assist you to identify options for reducing the impact of your disability on study
  • Provide information about and arrange access to appropriate services
  • Assist you to apply for a Learning Access Plan
  • Assist  arrange services, study and assessment accommodations
  • Review study and assessment accommodations during your course

Services provided by the University:

  • Access to the Student Access Study Centre (SASC) providing disability resources
  • Loan of specialised equipment
  • Provision of sign interpreters - e.g. Auslan
  • Provision of Access Parking Permits
  • Transcription of materials into accessible format
  • Provision of note-takers
